Update on Recreation Ground

Posted 9/5/2019

Harleston Town Council has agreed for the following TEMPORARY measures to be installed on the Recreation Ground by Harleston Town Football club to meet the Football Association ground grading requirements.

The football pitch to be extended by 6 metres to be the correct match size.

A foot path along the goal end of the pitch (from The library entrance to the tea hut). This will allow for safe standing during matches and also better disability access around the pitch.

The football pitch will have a new fence installed around the whole area, which will allow the area to be enclosed on match days only. At all other times the area will be fully accessible by the public, this includes the footpaths.

Floodlights will be installed as per the planning permission granted by South Norfolk Council earlier this year.

The football club have agreed that they have outgrown our Recreation Ground and these temporary measures have been agreed to enable the club to continue in their current league whilst they talks are held and action is taken to secure new facilities elsewhere within the town. Talks are already underway and planning is currently taking place with the support of the town council.

A legal agreement will be in place to ensure that the Recreation Grounds are returned to their original condition when the football club move to a new home.
